As the biggest Big Brother fans know,
Season 5 was the Season of D.N.A. (Do Not Assume).
Several twists in the game revealed a set of
Twins playing as one player (Adria & Natalie), a brother and sister who never
knew each other (Cowboy Mike and Nakomis), and whole hell of a lot of Drama
with Drew (eventual BB5 Winner),
and Diane (Who made it to BB7
All-Stars)!
NOT forgetting the
other cast of characters:
Jase and Scott (who made looking beautiful a masculine thing).
Holly (Who actually had a REAL Mannequin in her apartment).
Marvin (The Grave Digger, and one FUNNY HouseGuest).....
......AND Our Featured Interview-ee Mike Lubinski.
Mike was from Eastpointe, Michigan (A suburb of Detroit), and was not shy
about his Republican preference in a year that held an Election (2004). He did
NOT hide his views, and to this day, people still remember Mike for his
Pro-Bush stance. NEVER has a Big Brother House Guest displayed his Political
views as much as Mike did. He wore his affiliation on his sleeve (Literally!
Who remembers his George Bush T-shirts while in the BB house?).
Mike was the FIRST
person evicted from the Big Brother House in Season 5.
Dr. Detroit was able to corner Mike for some important questions about his
stay in the Big Brother House, and to reflect as a Former Big Brother
Houseguest.
Big Thanks to Mike for his time!
Go Red Wings!
Dr. Detroit from

asks:
"While in the Big Brother House, you voiced a very strong opinion about
several topics including, Politics, and Homosexuality.
Do you think being so vocal hurt you?"
Mike: The short answer is no. No one in the house cared about politics, and the only person I discussed homosexuality with was Will. Will and I discussed it intellectually, and he made some very good points. Will was one of the most likeable people in the house and I know there were no hard feelings on either side. His family is from Tupelo Mississippi, and mine is from about 50 miles from there, so early on we were thinking he and I might somehow be related (do not assume/Project D.N.A.). I met his family and they were honestly the nicest people in the world. His father is a dentist, and my Aunt knows his receptionist, I found out later.

Dr. Detroit asks:
"There were several reasons that you became a target in the House.
What is YOUR opinion on why you were evicted first in Big Brother 5?"
Mike: Well, I
know why I was a target, (and) it isn't my opinion. Early on, I knew Scott and
Jase were a problem, and I told people it would need to be dealt with. Jase
came to me and said they were going to put out Marvin, and I said I would like
to give him my vote, just so he didn't go out unanimously. The day before I
left, Jase and I straightened out several things that got me evicted. I have a
signed photo from Jamie Kern (BB1), and I had told Jase that. He thought I
knew her and had "ins" about the game. He also found out I told Marvin they
were after him first. After I told him I never MET Jamie, and I only told
Marvin AFTER he put me up, I could tell he realized he was wrong. My last day,
he said to me, “if I had it to do over again it wouldn't be this way”. He also
knew (what) I said that about them being a problem, but I don't think he ever
felt threatened until I almost won the hula hoop thing, because the rest of
the cast were very intimidated by him, and it was sort of me against the
house.

Hi Mike. Carolyn from http://bb9dish.blogspot.com/ here.
"Given the opportunity to get back into the house, would you do it? If so, how would you alter your strategy to improve your longevity?"
Mike: I don't think I would WANT to do it,
but a 1 in 12 chance at a half million dollars is a hard thing to turn your
back on. You don't get those odds at a casino or state lottery. I didn't apply
for season 5. They called me back from season 4, and I actually said no to
begin with, so I guess my answer is, I would have to see how things were, IF
it were to happen. It is hard to be away for a potential 3 months. I didn't
have a strategy, and honestly believe that no one does. How can you develop a
strategy when you don't know the people that will be in there with you? The
different people, the changes in the game, the different contests, all make it
hard to develop a strategy, beyond if you are going to lie or be honest.

Dr. Detroit asks:
"You have spoken publicly in the past that your experience in the Big Brother
House was not a positive one. Can you explain why?"
Mike: My
experience with Big Brother was fantastic. I love the producers, the casting
people, and most of the cast. I was treated really well, and had a once in a
lifetime opportunity. IN THE HOUSE, was another story. I have been working
since I was little. I had my first paper route at 10, and I had 2 when I was
14. I started at a gas station at 15. I just couldn't take the endless
boredom. It looks easy on TV, but when you are there, all you do is walk from
one place, to go stand or sit in another. The competitions, really take up
very little of your time, and they make you wake up in the morning, which
makes your day even longer.
Add that to the fact, that you don't get
to have any source of news, or reading material and it was more than I wanted
to do.

Greg from http://www.bbfriendsforever.com/ would like to know:
"How are your boys doing?
Do your boys still take Karate lessons?"
(Greg met Mike years ago outside his sons’ karate class. Here is the picture.
Mike:
My boys are great. My older one was the starting middle linebacker in
football, and played on 2 baseball teams in the summer. He's good at all of
it. My little one is in tap, and jazz dance, and is doing well in school.
Unfortunately, my son ended up giving up karate. He didn't like going and when
the place went out of business, I didn't try to fight him to continue.
